“All things have an order or arrangement, and work for an end.”
-Thomas Aquinas. Summa Theologica.
The Desing of all buildings/projects are broken down into two halves, function and form. A barn that keeps out the weather functions well. A home that is well proportioned and harmonious is beautiful. Historically speaking, cerptners always build with both form and function in mind, even when building the meanest of structures. Old structures still arouse such unique feelings in us today because of this balance.

Your Humble writer takes seriously the shoulders of the Giants’ who have preceded him. Stealing lessons from the master carpenters of the past is one of the hallmarks of design the beloved customer is likely to find at Bell here. By carefully evaluating traditional building practices and integrating them with modern building codes and preferences, yours humble writer has been able to bring a certain charm to its clients.
“East Meets West..”
Is an oddly apropos sentiment for your humble writer. Historic American barn building, Japanese Minka(民家) framing methods, Orthodox Iconography, Gothic and Scandinavian Ecclesial carving and tracery have strongly influenced work here at Bell Tower Timber. While your humble timber wright claims no excellence in any area, he would be remiss for not being upfront about his rather…eclectic…influences. Such breadth in design inspiration can be, at the same time, both exciting and intimidating for a beloved client. Your humble, however, writer strives to minimize such pains at every point of the design work.
-Initial Draft of a Frame for a home to be built in 2022. A combination of a Cathedral ceiling open floor plan with oriental “beam stacking” can lead to a unique feel of intimate grandiosity.
Sacred meets the Vernacular
Your humble writer spent many years training as a Roman Catholic priest, and they have been invaluable in being able to serve the Churches. Consequently, theological studies mixed with hands on training have given your humble writer unique perspectives on liturgical spaces and furnishings. Icons, Altars, and even entire timbered Temples fall within the bailiwick here at Bell Tower Timber.
All Beloved Clients should not hesitate with any questions.
